Use your strengths, bring on others for the rest

Lean in to your strengths — and bring on the right advisors and team members for the rest.

As a founder or a leader of any organization or business, you’re going to have certain areas you accel in more than others — whether that be product development, relationship building, sales, operations, or otherwise.

It’s so important to recognize where you are most valuable to your team and organization — and what areas you can bring on external support to either advise, manage or execute on. This allows you and your collaborators to move toward your goals much more efficiently.

I’ve worked with individuals who are incredible at leadership, being a visionary, or an expert in the sector, but have very limited understanding of say finances or marketing — which is completely normal — yet without offloading responsibility to those who specialize in these areas, it severely slows down their progress.

That’s why there are fractional experts, consultants, and strategists (including me) that specialize in specific aspects to move you forward faster and provide clear direction in that area.

It’s incredibly freeing when you can turn to a trusted advisor or someone who’s trained to execute for you in an area you’re not fully educated or confident in.

What are your strongest skillsets and biggest gaps?

Always good chatting with Kevin Whelan about topics like this.
